Wildcard asks what you are looking for before it shows you anyone. You only appear to people whose answer matches yours. Fewer profiles, far less wasted time, and no guessing what anybody is actually here for.
Drag a card off the top, or deal the deck
The idea
Other apps hide what people want behind a bio you have to decode, or bury it in a settings page nobody opens. So you match with someone lovely, spend a fortnight finding out they wanted something different, and neither of you did anything wrong.
Wildcard does not shrink your deck. Everybody nearby is in it, because browsing is half the fun and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
What changes is that it is printed on the card. Before you swipe, you already know.
Nobody is hidden from you. What they are here for is written on the card before you swipe, so you never find out three messages in.
You say what you are here for in your own words, on your own profile, and everybody else has done the same. Nobody has to open with it.
Nobody is filtered out of your deck. Swipe as much as you like. Set your own preferences if you want a tighter deck, but that is your call, not ours.
A daily limit on likes. Not to sell you more of them, but because a stack you can actually finish is worth more than one you cannot.
How it will work
Before you see a single profile, Wildcard asks what you are here for and who you want to meet. It is the first thing you do, not something buried in settings you never open.
Everyone nearby is in it, and every card says what that person is here for. Like them or pass. Passing costs nothing and nobody is told.
Nobody can message you unless you both liked each other. No paid workaround, no priority inbox, no inbox full of strangers.
Safety
Meeting a stranger from an app is the moment everything else gets judged on. Verification, blocking and reporting are one tap away rather than three menus deep, and a person reads every report that comes in.
Full safety and community guidelines pages go live alongside the app.
Where we are
Profiles, preference gating, the swipe stack, matching, messaging and verification are built and working.
Final testing on real devices, then submission to the App Store and Google Play for review.
Store listings go live and this page becomes download buttons.
